PG SILESIA BECAME A MEMBER OF THE INITIATIVE „MINING OK”’

On Wednesday, April 12th 2017, in University of Science and Technology in Cracow there was organized a ceremonial of signing the letter of intent for the initiative “Mining OK”. The main goal of this project is to build and conduct a common and effective policy for supporting mining sector as a responsible, modern and strategically necessary industry – locally, nationally and in Europe as well. One of the signatories of this document was the Chairman of the Board of PG SILESIA, Michal Heřman.

The ceremony was organized in University of Science and Technology in Cracow by dr inż. Paweł Bogacz, who is also the coordinator of the whole project. After a short presentation of the main assumptions, the participants solemnly signed the document. The common photo of the group members on the stairs, in the main hall of University of Science and Technology in Cracow, was the culmination of the whole ceremony.

The Group of Common Social Initiatives 'MINING OK' was created last year, just after the jubilee edition of the Underground Mining School. The group consists of representatives of mines, companies connected with mining industry and cooperating institutions. First and foremost however, the members of the 'Mining OK' group are companies that care about the development of the mining sector as the industry responsible for the market - which means the external environment, but also the workplace (the internal environment), the environment and local communities.

I am very proud of the fact that PG SILESIA is in such a great group. Our business operates in accordance with the law and respects the principles of sustainable development. While making decisions we follow, among others, ethical and environmental principles. As a part of the local community we want to support the development of society in the nearest neighborhood. There is no denying that the wellbeing of the environment - in which we operate - and the mine are mutually dependent - the value chain creates jobs, generates taxes to local and nationwide communities, which our employees, suppliers and customers come from. So every activity promoting CSR is worthy of commitment - said Michal Heřman, the Chairman of the Board of PG SILESIA.
