The Company owned by ENERGETICKÝ A PRŮMYSLOVÝ HOLDING signed the conditional purchase and sale agreement of “Silesia” Mine

Today Kompania Węglowa S.A. and PG SILESIA (Przedsiębiorstwo Górnicze „SILESIA" Spółka z o.o.) signed conditional purchase and sale agreement of „Silesia” Mine. Kompania Węglowa S.A. is the owner of “Silesia” Mine. The Company PG SILESIA belongs to Czech group ENERGETICKÝ A PRŮMYSLOVÝ HOLDING (EPH).

Closing the transaction depends on obtaining approval from particular antitrust authorities and meeting several other conditions. Parties mutually agreed that the price shall not be made public. PG SILESIA has taken part in the tender, referring to the sale of “Silesia” Mine, from the half of 2009. Its offer for purchasing „Silesia” Mine PG SILESIA submitted in October last year. “Silesia” Mine is located approximately 30 kilometers from Polish-Czech border and its balance resources exceed 500 million tons.

We are very happy that the transaction is being finalized – said Jacek Korski, vice chairman of the Board of Kompania Węglowa S.A. - We are not afraid of new competitor. With attention, we will keep an eye on the new solutions proposed by strategic investor of PG SILESIA.

We are planning to invest hundreds of millions Polish Zlotys into the most modern technologies and general modernization of the mine. It will entail not only increasing the production but also substantial improvement of working conditions in „Silesia” mine – said Tomáš David, Director of Energy Sector Development of group ENERGETICKÝ A PRŮMYSLOVÝ HOLDING. - I believe that thanks to our investments we will manage to maintain the current level of employment. In the future we are planning further development of the mine and hiring new miners. – added David.
