OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE NEW BOILER ROOM IN MSE

On Monday, 3rd of October 2016, in headquarters of Mining Services and Engineering Sp. z o.o. in Czechowice-Dziedzice, there was organized a ceremony of ribbon cutting. The event officially ended the important stage of ‘SILESIA’ Heating Plant’s modernization – the new boiler room has been given into use. Total cost of the investment amounts to PLN 11 mln.

Project works for the new boiler room started in April 2015 and they covered installing BOSCH gas boilers and DRAIZLER torches powered by methane – produced in excavation process in PG SILESIA. There is also possibility of emergency powering it with fuel oil. Capacity of gas boiler room is 17 MW, and it consists of two boilers with capacity of 8 MW and one boiler with capacity of 1 MW – the one which will be used for heating the water for mining cloakrooms in PG SILESIA.

The investment included building emergency tank for heating oil, new water treatment plant for boilers with completely new power system (together with emergency powering and modernization of cable lines). There has been also implemented modernization of current gas pipeline together with the trestle. The investment has been co-financed by The Regional Fund for Environmental Protection in Katowice in amount of almost PLN 6,5 mln. The rest of the cost has been covered by MSE.

Mining Services and Engineering Sp. z o.o. took over ‘Silesia’ Heating Plant from Nadwiślańska Spółka Energetyczna in 2014. ‘Silesia’ Heating Plant produces and supplies the heat to PG SILESIA and some external customers in Czechowice-Dziedzice. Moreover the Plant deals with water treatment – mostly for PG SILESIA’s purposes – and also sewage disposal (including urban wastewater). Facility of ‘Silesia’ Heating Plant is located in PG SILESIA’s area.

Mining Services and Engineering Sp. z o.o. is owned by EPH which is a vertically integrated energy utility covering the complete value chain ranging from highly efficient cogeneration, power generation, and natural gas transmission, gas storage, gas and electricity distribution and supply. EPH owns and operates assets in the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Germany, Italy, the UK and Hungary.

Completed investment is one of the most modern installation - of this type - in the whole EPH group. It shows attitude of our investor toward the further investments in Poland. EPH does not consider any short-cuts. All investments are implemented on the basis of the most modern technology. Undoubtedly, the new boiler room will have very positive influence on the environment: firstly, because of the reduction of methane emission by PG SILESIA, and secondly because of CO2 emission’s reduction by boiler room. But the most important thing is to improve the working conditions for the staff – – said Michal Heřman, Chairman of the Board of MSE.
